Maintenance
Timberwise floors are immediately ready for use after installation and first initial cleaning. The floor will last for decades when appropriately installed, used and cared for. Marks caused by of general use are part of a wooden floor’s natural character. Pets and exceptional weight should be taken into consideration when choosing the floor: The heavier the weight, the harder the wood type. More information can be found in the Flooring guide.
When required, it is possible to order a comprehensive maintenance set from Timberwise, containing: OSMO Color Wisch Fix cleaning detergent, cleaning and conditioning wax spray and coloured or colourless oil wax for correcting small scratch marks.
Timberwise floors are easy to look after and long-lasting, provided you follow a few simple rules and principles:
- appropriate humidity (RH 40-60%) and temperature conditions (+18-24°C), ventilation, air humidifying
- doormats on both sides of front-doors – protect against sand and loose dirt
- Do not keep wet shoes on parquet. In hallways, plastic mats should be placed under shoes to prevent water damage.
- Vacuum clean and wipe with a damp mop reguarly - use a minimal amount of water when cleaning – after wiping, the floor should be dry in one minute!
- Do not use too much or too strong detergants.
- immediate stain removal
- use of felt patches on furniture leg ends
Service conditions
To minimise moisture-induced expansion / shrinkage of the wood, the room air’s relative humidity should remain between 40% and 60%, and the room temperature should be 18-24 °C. If conditions deviate substantially from the above, the manufacturer, seller or installer cannot accept liability for any swelling or damage to the parquet’s wood. Structural changes can be reduced by using an air humidifier during dry periods and with sufficient ventilation during wet periods.
