Ash is a hardwood deciduous tree. Ash grows in wet areas in Europe, the Caucasus and Asia Minor. The heartwood and sapwood are clearly distinguishable. Sapwood is thick and almost white. A clear heartwood pattern appears with age; it is sharply visible as a grey, brown or olive coloured area. The wood material is unevenly patterned by different colour shades; it is venous, stripy and, thus, appears very ornamental.
The wood is very tough, heavy and hard.
Ash has a density of 690 kg / m³ as air dry and Brinell hardness 4.0 HB.
As a floor material, ash is very hard and durable and, thanks to its rich structure and colour, very popular. Different surface treatment options make ash a very personal and trendy floor which is suitable, in addition to homes, for public spaces which require a characteristic and strong look. | | |
